The two types of personal bankruptcy that I handle are Chapter 7 and Chapter 13. Below are some brief descriptions of these areas.

Chapter 7

In Chapter 7 bankruptcy a debtor receives a total discharge (a "fresh start") of most debts. You are able to start over once most of your debt is erased. Some assets may be sold and used to pay off your creditors.

Chapter 13

Chapter 13 bankruptcy is a debt repayment plan to pay outstanding debt to your creditors. A Chapter 13 bankruptcy requires the reorganization of the debtor's financial obligations in order to satisfy the requirements of the debts. People who file for Chapter 13 typically have a steady income. Some debts are dischargeable under this chapter.
